AeroHT, the flying vehicle division of XPeng, has achieved a significant milestone towards commercial production of its unique electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) vehicle known as the “Land Aircraft Carrier”.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has accepted the company’s application for a production certificate, allowing AeroHT to progress toward large-scale manufacturing of this innovative aerial vehicle.
The Land Aircraft Carrier is designed to incorporate a single-passenger eVTOL aircraft that can take off and land vertically, thus representing a significant step in personal aerial mobility.
AeroHT’s Land Aircraft Carrier Set for 2026 Launch Amid Production Delays
Originally slated for large-scale production in 2025, the debut of the Land Aircraft Carrier has been postponed to 2026, primarily due to the ongoing construction of a dedicated production facility, which is currently 70% complete.
The facility includes essential components such as final assembly areas and specialized shops for painting and compounding. AeroHT anticipates that this state-of-the-art production site will be fully operational by the fourth quarter of 2024.
In March 2024, the vehicle secured airworthiness certification from the CAAC, further validating its design and operational capabilities. While the Land Aircraft Carrier has already received both Type and Production Certifications, it will still need an Airworthiness Certificate and an Air Operator Certificate from the CAAC before it can begin commercial operations.
The company is committed to working closely with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and safety as it navigates these certification processes.
The initial price point for the Land Aircraft Carrier is expected to be around $280,000, making it a premium offering in the nascent market for flying cars. As interest in sustainable aerial travel grows, AeroHT’s advancements signify a pivotal moment for urban mobility and the future of transportation.
